About Anchor Equity Partners:
Anchor Equity Partners is a Korea-focused private equity fund specializing in growth capital, buyout and industry consolidation opportunities in Korea. The investment team is predominantly comprised of former investment professionals from Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area (GS PIA) Korea team, which managed over US$1.2 billion over the past 14 years. The fund will mainly seek to make investments over US$50 million in small and mid-sized businesses in Korea and expects to be a significant minority/majority investor in these investments, partnering with the current majority shareholders and targeting growing businesses owned and operated by well-regarded entrepreneurs. The fund will also target buyout opportunities selectively.
The fund is currently looking to offer a 6-month Research Analyst opportunity in our Seoul office.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Research Analyst will have a unique opportunity to work with highly seasoned and successful investment professionals in the Korean private equity industry and will support the team in various stages of a private equity investment such as:
• Industry and Corporate Studies – Identify investment opportunities through a rigorous screening and research process and brief the team
• Financial Analysis – Develop company valuations and create/analyze financial models
• Due Diligence – Conduct in-depth analysis of target companies
• Portfolio Management – Monitor operational and financial performance of portfolio companies through various metrics (e.g., Key Performing Index) and maintain/update projection models
Qualifications:
• Strong passion for private corporate investing
• History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
• Prior experience in either private equity investing or a more general investment banking or consulting background. Financial modeling and valuation experience would be ideal, but not mandatory. Ability to understand financial statements
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills supported by good reasoning in formulating investment views
• Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and handle multiple assignments effectively
• Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members
• High level of professionalism, maturity, confidence and judgment
• Fluency in English and Korean is a must, both written and verbal
• Familiarity with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
