Korea Product Safety organization provides product regulatory, hazard communications and product stewardship expertise and supports all Dow businesses and some Joint Ventures to ensure that products are imported and manufactured and placed on the market in compliance with national, local and Dow requirements.
The Product Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting business sustainability and growth in this area with increasing regulatory complexity and requirements by understanding / interpreting national and local product EH&S regulations, monitoring EHS product regulatory developments, establishing the necessary internal networks for Diamond System implementation, and ensuring Dow Korea compliance to relevant reporting requirements. In the area of Hazard Communications, he/she also assists businesses in addressing customer regulatory inquiries; provide appropriate training to business partners, within and outside Korea. The Regulatory Specialist will report to the Korea Product Safety Group Leader.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Assist the businesses to ensure regulatory compliance for all products placed on the market in Korea
· Pre-Marketing Notification (PMN) - Support PMN coordinators in the businesses and responsible Product
Stewards with respect to contact with local authorities, Translations/interpretations and specific local PMN
requirements.
· Registrations/notifications: Country specific product registrations, application-specific dossiers and other
declarations, as applicable by jurisdiction
· Safety Data Sheet (SDS) / Label - Check all applicable product regulations, comply with Globally
Harmonized Systems (GHS) and create local version Safety Data Sheet (SDS), label and TremCards. Release
local version SDS / Label via EH&S systems. (i.e. SAP R3, LPS.NET, GLM, ESPS, ECC etc.) Translation and
proofread, adaptation to local product regulatory requirements and subsequent maintenance.
2. Regulatory monitoring and interpretation
· Monitoring of regulatory developments by establishing and maintaining good relations with relevant
authorities and industry associations.
· Interpretation of local regulatory developments; evaluation and communication thereof to applicable
businesses and functions.
· Support the businesses and functions by communicating Dow and industry positions to authorities/
customers/federations on regulatory matters of importance for Dow and the chemical industry.
3. EH&S PRS/Hazcoms customer Inquiries
· Support responses to customers on EHS and regulatory inquiries and act as liaison between businesses
and Authors/ customers when needed.
· Support the businesses with local customer visits, audits, training etc.
· Participates as appropriate and upon request when businesses are organizing visits to customer with
elements of EH&S and regulatory issues. Such visits can include Dow EH&S policies, training in regulatory
matters and auditing of EH&S practices
4. Training and information
· Support EHS Product Regulatory Service / Hazard Communications training and provide information to
the impacted Dow organization
Key Elements of this Role:
· Communicating clearly and effectively with Dow Businesses/ Functions within and outside of Korea.
Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization, from various functions to address/
manage Regulatory/ Hazard Communications concerns and provide solutions.
· High level of service and responsiveness for clients; partner with Businesses to get the best solutions.
· Organization, self-motivation, and self-direction. Ability to manage multiple tasks, setting of priorities,
and time management.
· Support EH&S business risk assessment/management needed for new applications and products.
· To support new business development and product and business growth, e.g. integration of new
acquisitions, Joint Ventures where Dow is providing EH&S Product Regulatory services, etc.
Qualification
· Knowledge of the chemical industry.
· Knowledge of Dow product chemistry and application would be an advantage as would knowledge of Korean EH&S chemical product regulations.
· Proven ability to work independently, cross-business, cross-function,
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
· Flexible and team oriented with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
· Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English.
· Knowledge of other languages in the Asia Pacific region is beneficial.
The following additional skills and experiences are desired:
· Maximum 2 years of experience in the related field (including RA experience) (신입 지원 가능)
· Strong English proficiency
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
· Statistical data analysis
